The Quorn Quarter Pounder Burger gets a four out of five
stars. I cooked the burger by putting the patty in the microwave for one minute
and then on the stove at medium to high heat for at least ten minutes with sunflower
oil. The way it cooked did not mimic real meat, but stayed together though the
flipping.
The Quorn Quarter Pounder tries to look like a ground beef
burger by putting white chunks in it to make it look like fat in meat. I believe
it would be easy to cut the patty up and use it in other dishes. The burger has
a slight BBQ flavor which could easily be masked with sauces and other burger
ingredients. I was surprised when I found that first ingredient in the patty is
mycoprotein from mushrooms. I have had mushroom sausages in the past and wished
there where more foods like it our there. When mushrooms are ground, it has a
similar consistency to ground pork or beef, which shows in this burger. The
burger isn’t vegan, but is soy-free. Each patty has 17g of protein and 191
calories. The burger has 9.4g of fat which is comparatively low to meat
burgers. The price is also comparatively lower than other plant-based burgers
at $2.87 or £2.20. Quorn is not a common brand you can find in the US, but is
popular in the British Isles. I think the Quorn Quarter Pounder is a great
burger to help people get on a plant-based diet because the texture and taste
are similar to a processed meat burger.
