The Impossible Burger gets five out of five stars. You can
buy frozen patties at the grocery store or you can find them served at some restaurants.
I thawed and cooked the patty on the stove. In the past, I have broken up the
patty while I cooked it and used it as ground beef for chili. I ate the burger with
mayonnaise.
The Impossible Burger does look like and has similar texture
to beef. The patty cooks like real beef and chars on the outside when cooked. The
patty’s main ingredient is soy protein and coconut and sunflower oil. The nice
thing about burgers that are made of soy that are made to look as much as meat
as possible is you can rub the outside of the patty with spices that are taken
up into the meat when cooked. The burger has a charred taste and tastes like a
normal burger especially if you add toppings and spice. To make up for lack of
meat many of the consumers diets, the patty contains added B vitamins including
B12. I found it interesting that the burger did not contain beets because many
of the plant-based burgers that try to mimic meat contain beet juice to make
the “meat” seem like it’s bleeding. Each burger patty is 240 calories, 19g of protein,
and 8g of saturated fat. The Impossible Burger is one of the priciest meat
alternate brands on the market. At Target, you can get six patties for $15. If
you enjoy this burger, Impossible also makes meatballs and ground. Overall,
this burger would be a great way to show meat-eating friends and family that
you don’t have to give up good taste and texture in a plant-based diet.

I ate this as part of the Burger King Whopper, the texture was very similar to real beef. I was surprised how well it mimics beef by texture, flavor was good, still 8g of saturated fat is higher than I would guess.
